Why Pilots Choose Lipson Aviation for Cirrus Training

Most SoCal flight schools have aircraft. Few hold a Cirrus Authorized Training Center designation, CSIP-certified instructors, and a fleet starting with the 2025 SR20 G7+.

Cirrus Authorized Training Center

An officially certified Cirrus ATC — not just a school that happens to own Cirrus planes. Our curriculum, instructors, and standards are certified by Cirrus Aircraft. Most SoCal competitors aren’t ATCs.

Fly the Newest Cirrus Available

Our 2025 SR20 G7+ includes Garmin SAFE RETURN™ Emergency Autoland. You’ll train on the most advanced, safest Cirrus SR20 currently on the market — a technology most training fleets don’t offer.

CSIP-Certified Instructors

Your instructor holds Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP) certification — the Cirrus-specific teaching credential. Not just a CFI who happens to fly Cirrus, but an instructor trained in Cirrus methodology.

Full Pathway, One School

PPL → Instrument Rating → Multi-Engine → Commercial → ATP. We have the aircraft, certifications, and instructors to complete every rating at one location. No need to switch schools as you advance.

Cirrus Simulator Training

Our Cirrus simulator at $50/hr lets you master G7 avionics and instrument procedures before burning flight hours. Build proficiency and confidence faster — at a fraction of the aircraft rate.

Evening & Weekend Scheduling

Train around your work and family schedule — not ours. Morning, evening, and weekend slots available. We match your pace, not a rigid course calendar.

What Our Students Say

★★★★★

“Lipson Aviation is hands down the place to go in SoCal for premium flight training. I’ve done Cirrus SR22T training here, got my MEI in the Beech Duchess, and even had jet training in the Citation Mustang with Ben himself. The aircraft are super well maintained — every issue gets taken care of right away. Ben’s logged over 10,000 hours and brings airline-level attention to detail to every flight. Can’t recommend Lipson enough.”

★★★★★

“We traveled from the east coast to purchase an SR22T and did our Cirrus Embark training with Lipson Aviation. Ben, John, and Wayne went above and beyond to make sure we had the knowledge to fly the airplane safely and gave excellent guidance on Cirrus ownership. Highly recommend for any Cirrus or Embark training.”

★★★★★

“After researching several SoCal flight schools, I chose Lipson Aviation for my private pilot certification — and it’s been fantastic. Cirrus aircraft in the fleet are rare to find at flight schools out here, and theirs are always well-maintained and reliable. The one-on-one instruction is patient, flexible, and genuinely invested in your progress. A standout choice for modern aircraft and top-tier instruction.”

Common Questions About Cirrus Training

Is Cirrus harder to learn in than a Cessna or Piper?
Actually the opposite — Cirrus aircraft are designed with advanced safety systems (SAFE RETURN™ autoland, CAPS parachute) and a glass cockpit that gives you more situational awareness, not less. Our CSIP-certified instructors use Cirrus’s own training methodology to build your confidence with the technology from day one.
How long does Cirrus flight training take?
Your PPL requires a minimum of 40 flight hours (most students log 60–80 total). For a dedicated adult learner training 2–3 times per week, expect 4–8 months to complete your PPL. Evening and weekend slots are available to keep momentum without disrupting your schedule.
How much does Cirrus training cost at Lipson Aviation?
We use a membership/hourly model — no locked-in course fees. The 2025 SR20 G7+ is $380/hr (Platinum Member rate); the 2021 SR20 is $280/hr. Simulator time runs $50/hr. Book a discovery call and we’ll walk through the cost breakdown for your specific training goals.
I have my PPL in another aircraft. Can I transition to Cirrus?
Yes — Cirrus transition training is a specialty here. Your existing hours count. We’ll build a structured plan to get you proficient in the G7 avionics, CAPS procedures, and Cirrus-specific emergency handling. Students have traveled from out of state specifically for our transition program.
Are you actually a Cirrus Authorized Training Center, or just a school with Cirrus aircraft?
We’re an officially certified Cirrus Authorized Training Center (ATC) — a specific designation from Cirrus Aircraft, not a self-claimed title. Our curriculum and CSIP-certified instructors meet Cirrus’s requirements. Many SoCal schools own Cirrus planes but aren’t ATCs. We are.
